The United States Mint on Monday said it will begin selling 2009 Penny rolls for $8.95 on Friday, March 13, at noon ET.

The Mint had previously updated its product schedule to include rolls for each of the four redesigned 2009 Lincoln Pennies that celebrate the bicentennial birth of Abraham Lincoln. It had not, however, announced pricing or other details until Monday's press release statement.

The Mint added that it would offer a two-roll set, with one roll of 50 pennies bearing the "D" mintmark and another roll from Philadelphia where the coins do not bear mintmarks.

The premium is nearly $8 over the value of the coins without counting the $4.95 shipping and handling fee attached to each order, but is much cheaper than 2009 pennies have been selling for on eBay.

While the Lincoln cents in each rolls were not produced for collectors, many are sure to buy them as they are circulated coins that have never circulated. It will also make it easy for anyone to get the coins instead of trying to find them at banks or in pocket change. That has been exceedingly difficult throughout much of the country.

The rolls will be available at noon ET on Friday at http://usmint.gov. Or by calling the Mint’s toll-free number, 1-800-USA-MINT (872-321-MINT (6468).
