As sales for the newest 2009 Lincoln "Presidency" Penny cooled from its launch, the Lincoln "Professional Life" Penny maintained its steam. The "Professional Life" Two-Roll set beat its prior week sales gain for the third time in a row.
According to the latest US Mint sales figures, collectors purchased over 21,000 new "Presidency" Two-Roll Sets in a week's time, compared to the 153,000 that they purchased over the weekend when it launched. Collectors also bought another 4,000 of the "Professional Life" Two-Roll Sets. Last week, they only scooped up about 3,000 of the sets.
The brilliant gem in the group of 2009 Lincoln products this week was the US Mint Proof Set, containing four pennies with the same copper alloy as the original 1909 Lincoln Penny. The Mint Set tacked on another 25,000 in sales, making its total just a little shy of 1.3 million sets sold.
