2009 Lincoln Cent Specifications

The following are the specification for each of the four 2009 Lincoln Pennies:

Mint: Philadelphia and Denver
Condition: Circulation
Weight: 2.5 grams
Diameter: 19 mm
Composition: 99.2% zinc, 0.8% copper, with a plating of pure copper
Mintage: Based on circulating demand

Collector Pennies with Same Metallic Content as the 1909 Penny

The United States Mint will also issue one-cent coins in 2009 with the exact metallic content -- 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc -- that was contained in the 1909 penny, which was the very first Lincoln cent issued.

These will be minted in proof and uncirculated conditions, and will only be included in the United States Mint's annual 2009 product offerings that are yet to be released.

Coin specifications follow for the bicentennial Lincoln Silver Dollars, as provided by the United States Mint:
